Steps to Achieve Goals

and I am back!
It's been a while since I last wrote something here but I feel that we all need "time off".  And how can we do that, why would we want that, why would anyone want to just stay away from seeing people, having to encounter situations...Even great scholars took time off.  We start making mistakes when we are not relaxed and thinking clearly....we can hurt people's feelings and even hurt our own family...
Take Imam al Gazali for example, who took time off to travel and search for his answers. We all need that time off of what can lead us in the wrong direction.  Then, we are re-charged, ready to fight strong and with a clear goal in mind.  That's one reason we want to do Hajj, take time away from all material distractions and focus on what is most important: God and how to please Him.
I feel really rejuvenated, inspired, excited to pursue new goals and try to attach myself to what leads me to my purpose in life and why I was put on this earth.

God willing, I will take the steps that will lead me to that new beginning and the new inspirations I feel will help me have a much needed fulfillment of life in the coming new year!
Yes Intentions are important but intentions alone are not the trick.  After a clear vision of my goals this new year, I must draft a concise plan, a clear guide to achieve them.  I'm excited and sometimes get a bit of side track.....but I must focus and not allow distractions to entertain me.

Steps to help me focus:
1. My pure intention and goal(s) (something that I can connect directly or indirectly to pleasing God)
2. My strategic plan (step by step/how I will achieve my goal)
3. Identify my stressors AND how to deal with them (what will get in the way of me achieving my goals and what I can do to be prepared to tackle them)
4. Who/what are my helpers? (who or where/what can I go to to keep me guided/enriched/focused)
5. What will be my reward? (something that will keep me motivated and excited of achieving my goal)

And here is my rough plan for some of my goals:
1. I intend to make the pilgrimage to Mecca "Hajj" and I plan on becoming a certified fitness trainer.  2. I will train, loose weight, tone up, read/memorize certification fitness book and pass the test. Also, read books about Hajj and get feedback from people who did Hajj last year.
3. Attending too many events, not following my fitness plan, not sleeping enough, getting lazy are my stressors.  I will cut down on activities and try to follow my plan, sleep well and be hydrated and keep myself motivated by listening to inspirational and motivational lectures.
4. My teachers and successful people I look up to are my helpers and I will go to them if I feel that I need more focus or guidance.
5. Inshallah, if God wills, I can perform my Hajj.  If God accepts my Hajj, that's my most precious gift.  If I get certified as a fitness trainer, I will help people feel better physically and mentally inshallah.

Sounds easy right? well, it is du'a(supplication) and strong effort that makes anything happen....if it's meant to happen.
peace!
