on Being Thankful

So yesterday I heard one of Hasan Hathout's beautiful speeches and I actually shared it in my study group in the morning. He says some of the most wise things. mashallah!
It was on "thanking God"...
This can apply to anyone if you don't believe in God, you can think of "being thankful".

He said even if we count our blessings we would never finish.
Thank you God for my eyesight, my hearing, my feelings, my intellect, my things, my house, my car, my shoes, my toes, my....the list goes on and on.
He says our life should be "to thank HIM", so we use out tongue and our mind and our heart to remember our creator.

Jesus peace be on him used to do just that. Even when enemies would come to him he would only utter sweet words, words of love and would ask God to bless them. A companion asked him, "why do you say these things to them while they hate you and want to kill you?" Jesus said, " I can only utter what God allows me to utter, I can only give from what I have "...in other words, he didn't have hate in his heart for people, he had love. He loved everything and everyone that God created.

Hasan said "live the way God intended us to live" In hidden and in obvious ways, live the way of God.

It was an excellent lecture and one that inspired me throughout the day. I want to hear more lectures from him as they are always filled with so much love.

He worked until he couldn't anymore. I remember he signed one of his books I had bought and he couldn't even move his hand, let alone fingers. Still, he made the effort and signed that book for me. Dr. Hasan will always be my teacher and I hope to take his beautiful message of peace and love to all those who I meet.
